lyrics

Ben Black:

He said he'd rather be a spanner in the works than a cog in the machine,
'Cause his teachers and his bosses they were flogging him a dream
And as rotten as it seems, he fell for the plotting and the schemes
And the rocketing esteem that came from having money in the pocket of his jeans.
Better looking chicks started copping off with Beanz,
And saying (Who's That?). Man life doesn't get much better,
Yeah he came a long way since the days of Vendetta.
Or so it would appear, but under the veneer
Was one of the best lyricists you never got to hear,
He forgot them dreams to get ahead in his career,
A familiar story, you don't have to shed a tear though.
It's not a crying shame, he took the dying flame,
Put the fire in his belly once more, try again.
Came back harder, nastier, smarter
To get his just desserts, this is just for starters man.

(Who's That?) Now who was that that I just heard on the track?
(Who's That?) Huh? Well who the **** is Ben Black?
(Who's That?) You gotta drop a couple clues in this.
(Who's That?) Like who the **** are the Delusionists?
(Who's That?) Is it just one dude or a crew?
(Who's That?) Who's DBF and what the **** does he do?
(Who's That?) You better tell 'em 'cause the people don't know
(Who's That?) With that in mind, let's proceed with the show.

DBF:

He quit without warning, claimed that this rap shit was boring,
And caused him to yawn like it’s six in the morning.
One or two weren’t too bad lyrically,
But everything else, it was just a tad gimmicky,
Too many mimics whose tunes lack synergy
He ain’t heard a classic since he heard Madvillainy.
All his heroes have fell off, so then he turned the radio the hell off
Debating what cds to sell off.
Now everything’s cushtie, or at least it would be
If he didn’t have this big bright red button in his head saying push me
And you might discover the MC you could be.
(Who’s That?) He couldn’t fight coz the tide was strong.
(Who’s That?) He had to come back and right the wrongs.
(Who’s That?) It doesn’t matter who writes the songs,
The boy came back to life when the mic was on.
